I started vines on the last ring but I don't like something about it. Next time, as I have already said, I believe I must be meticulous in my plan if I am going to have the level of craftsmanship and design I am aiming for. I am honestly sick of this thing but I want to see it through to the end.
I went in and repainted the background. It was as tedious as I imagined it would be. When it dries I will finish the final embroidery on the edges and then stretch it over the drum ring. My hope is that I will be able to pull out all the ripples at that time. Part3... I think I made As huge error in color choice for the warm color braid... Oh well I wish I had kept the original theme of colors with it, also I should have planned and under drawn everything and then painted a base so thick it would not be obliterated by my embroidery hoop. To make that work I would of course not painted the parts I would embroider which would have been extremely tedious for this fabric. I did appreciate the freedom to experiment. Next time I will use raw canvas, make a detailed plan, paint to completion an impenetrable background and then execute. I think my biggest problem for the embroidery medium at this point is not taking the time to plan and execute from the beginning. Having to make decisions about what stitches to use for each animal helped me to start thinking more in those terms- also I realized it have been doing satin stitch wrong. The right way is taking half the time which is good because I have ambition. |
